About Raise Therapy
At Raise Therapy, my commitment is to creating safe, supportive spaces for children, young people, and the adults who care for them. Through play therapy, children can express emotions, develop coping skills, and grow in confidence. I also work with young people, particularly those navigating life across cultures, offering a space to explore identity, manage transitions, and build emotional resilience in the midst of change. For parents and carers, I offer a collaborative space to reflect, feel supported, and discover strategies that strengthen connection and trust within the family.
My Story
I began my career as an early childhood educator, supporting young children in their social and emotional growth. I also mentored post-secondary students in teacher training programs, helping them build the skills and confidence to form meaningful relationships with children.
Over time, I became deeply curious about how the dynamics between children and adults shape a child’s emotional world. I noticed how boundaries, connection, and guidance could either support or overwhelm, and how central trust and empathy are to a child’s sense of safety and ability to thrive.
Wanting to deepen my work, I completed a Master’s degree in Child-Centred Play Therapy, an arts-based approach to psychotherapy. In my practice, I use play to help children express what they may not yet have words for, explore feelings, build resilience, and process challenges at their own pace. I’ve witnessed how, within the safety of a therapeutic relationship, children can grow in confidence, self-awareness, and emotional strength.
Along the way, I also saw how powerful it is when parents bring this therapeutic way of relating into everyday life. Meeting children with empathy and attunement, guiding with collaboration and respect, and choosing connection over control can strengthen relationships and support lasting emotional resilience. This realisation led me to expand my work to include parents and carers, not just children.
Having lived and worked abroad for the past 15 years, I understand firsthand the unique challenges and enriching opportunities that come with adapting to new cultures and environments. Some of my work is currently focused on supporting young people growing up between worlds, helping them navigate the complexities of identity, belonging, and transition. This experience informs my approach, allowing me to offer empathetic and grounded support that honours both the difficulties and strengths of life across cultures.
Today, I offer play therapy for children, compassionate support for young people, and guidance for the adults who care for them. My approach is grounded in presence, partnership, and a deep belief in the healing potential of relationship.
How I Work
How I Work with Children
My therapeutic work with children is grounded in Child-Centred Play Therapy, which uses play as the natural language of childhood. In this approach, toys and creative materials become a child’s words, and play becomes their way of making meaning. By creating a safe and consistent environment, children can express themselves, process emotions, and develop new ways of coping.
Play therapy helps children build resilience, strengthen self-esteem, and navigate challenges they may not yet have words for. It is particularly supportive for children experiencing anxiety, grief, family changes, or difficulties at school or with peers. Within the therapeutic relationship, children are given both the freedom to explore and the security of being accepted and understood. Play therapy is available in person to children in the Cambridgeshire area and surrounding counties.
How I Work with Parents and Carers
When working with parents and carers, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches including Positive Discipline, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, Nonviolent Communication, and Theraplay®. These frameworks provide practical tools and insights to strengthen parent–child connection, support emotional wellbeing, and create respectful guidance in family life.
Sessions offer a reflective and supportive space where parents and carers can explore challenges, feel understood, and discover strategies that align with their values. My role is not to position myself as the expert on your child, but to collaborate with you in ways that enhance confidence, deepen empathy, and nurture trust within your family relationships. Parent and carer support is available both in person and online for parents in the UK and expats abroad .
